Scope Technologies is a unique manufacturer of Transitional Healthcare Furniture that includes medical treatment recliners, patient room sleeper chairs and sofas, and limited caregiver seating. Our seating transitions patients to wellness by using steel framing and other mechanisms that offer a variety of functions including: reclining positions from partial to True Trendelenburg, fold-out sleeper innovations, full swing-out arms for easy patient lift-assistance and wheelchair access, and replaceable fabric slipcovers, mechanisms, and components. These features, along with our Quick Ship program and 5-Year warranty, save healthcare facilities time and money with less downtime and fewer total chair replacements over years of use.

Our recliners are the result of many hours spent with doctors, nurses, and patients. We asked questions about what is needed and lacking in medical treatment furniture. We learned:

• Dialysis and oncology patients have different needs than surgery recovery and obstetrics patients.
• Our competitors overlook comfort and design.
• Medical recliners are considered “equipment” more than furniture. They must hold up to extreme wear and tear, yet be as comfortable and stylish as a home recliner.
• When selecting treatment furniture, priorities of nurses are different than those of facilities managers, buyers, and designers.

Based on these responses, we offer different features and benefits for each of our products. Today, our unique transitional healthcare furniture is designed by a team of patients, caregivers, and physicians. We also employ an advisory board of three physicians and an R.N. This board is committed to improving our products to offer better care in all areas of medicine including dialysis, orthopedics, oncology, ambulatory care, critical care, outpatient surgery, maternity, and more.

Our History

Our tradition of quality and comfort in furniture dates back to 1964. The Lux Company provided cushions to the recreational vehicle industry. In 1968, a furniture division from Lasalle-Dietch was purchased by the Lux Company with Montgomery Ward as its largest customer. While growing in the recreational vehicle market, contract furniture was launched under the brand of LuxSteel, which is still manufactured by Scope Technologies. The medical division started in the early 1990s. In 1993, Lux patented the popular Sure Rest sleeper sofa.
