Scope’s medical recliners are extremely user-friendly and their basic operations are easy to grasp. Below are a few functions common to all Scope medical treatment recliners: 1. Extend Recliner Footrest From the sitting position, grasp and pull the lever release on the inside panel of the right armrest. The footrest is spring loaded and will extend on its own. To return the footrest, simply apply pressure with back of legs and heels to push footrest back into its locked position.
2. Recline Chair The Easy-Lean recline feature is unique to Scope. Rather than patients reaching over the side of the recliner to pull a lever or using pressure by pushing back on the arms of the recliner, patients simply cross arms and lean back to gently recline the chair. The back of the recliner will stop at any position desired. The normal recline position allowed is shown below.
3. Trendelenburg Position - – Optional Feature The True Trendelenburg position is required when a patient’s blood flow needs to approach the brain. The lever on the rear left side of the recliner is easily accessible by nurses to execute this position. Simply push the lever up and push down on the back of the recliner until it stops and locks. The patient’s head will be lower than the feet to achieve the desired result. To return the recliner to its normal upright position, lift the same lever and the back will automatically return to a vertical position.
4. Swing Out Arms – Optional Feature Grasp one of the “parachute” handles located on the rear and on either side of the chair’s armrests. Pull the handle diagonally upward, which will unlock the armrest. Pull the released armrest away from the chair. To lock the armrest back into place, simply swivel the armrest back to the body of the chair and apply inward pressure. A “click” sound will confirm that the armrest is locked in place. Make sure that parachute cord has returned to a closed position.
5. Footrest Platform – Optional Feature Underneath the front of the recliner is a pull-out footrest platform designed for smaller individuals to achieve proper posture when their legs are not long enough to reach the floor or for patient transfers. This footrest easily slides out from the bottom of the chair by grasping the front edge of the footrest exposed from under the chair and pulling it out until it stops. Return the footrest platform under the chair by simply pushing it back in when no longer needed. The platform has a non-slip surface.
